Darwin grown Cempedak 2024 SEASON. AVAILABLE IN SYDNEY ONLY.

PLEASE DO NOT PURCHASE THIS IF YOU ARE LOOKING FOR CRUNCHY or SOFT JACKFRUIT. THIS IS ***NOT*** JACKFRUIT. NO REFUNDS WILL BE MADE IF YOU MAKE A MISTAKE.

Cempedak. Chempedak. Artocarpus Integer. This tree-ripened, delicious honey-sweet, mushy Malaysian variety cempedak.

A species of tree in the family Moraceae, it is in the same family genus as breadfruit and jackfruit. But is nothing like jackfruit. Cempedak has a much softer wet sweet honey caramel-like flesh, strong scented fragrance, and eats like chewy bubblegum - with a fibrous ripened durian pulp texture. If you enjoy the texture of durian, you will likely enjoy cempedak.

Its dark green thorny-like skin is much thinner than jackfruit, has very little latex, and it grows in a smaller cylindrical shape in comparison to its heavyweight cousin, usually no bigger than 3-4kg. It can grow as small as 800g with plenty of ripe mushy arils to enjoy.

Cempedak is native to southeast Asia, especially from Malaysia and can be found in Indonesia to the island of New Guinea.

In Australia, they grow in the Northern Territory and Far North Queensland, and as far south as Northern NSW.

AVAILABLE FOR SYDNEY ONLY.
